BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (WPEC) — A former volunteer cheerleading coach accused of having a romantic relationship with an underaged student has pleaded guilty.
According to court records, 28-year-old Kassidy Sottilare pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a two-way communications device, offense against student by an authority figure, and driving while her license was revoked.
The arrest report said Sottilare, who was a junior varsity cheerleading coach at Boynton Beach High in Florida at the time, connected with the 14-year-old student on social media. She sent messages telling the student she wanted to "spoil and f___ with her.”
Police used the girl's phone and social account to pose as the victim, make contact with Sottilare, and gather evidence for their case. Sottilare texted with police, who posed as the student, about topics such as experience with sex and smoking, and made constant attempts to meet up with the student.
Sottilare was arrested on Feb. 22, 2022, after police convinced Sottilare to meet up one night in Boynton Beach.
Sottilare was sentenced to five years probation and 100 hours of community service. She will also be required to complete a psycho-sexual evaluation within 30 days and must continue any recommended treatment with mental health counseling.
